Abstract

Abstract. Rapid development of digital technologies induces people's interest in the challenges of transforming social reality and the prospects of a new digital culture, resulting in drastic changes in the lives of people around the world that are related to transformations in all areas of economy, including tourism industry. Industry 4.0 calls for a new approach to the production process, in particular to producing locally-made souvenirs, which involves a change in the sequence of the main stages of their production. The main focus is on interaction with consumers in a digital environment. The article looks at transforming the production process of locally-made souvenirs in the context of the digi-
tal transformation of manufacturing. The research aims to work out an approach to the production of locally-made souvenirs and to describe the stages of their production. The study was carried out using conceptual and systematic approaches, a mixed approach to customization within the framework of the modular method, and programmed shaping methods implemented through the use of combina-
torics and transformation techniques. The paper proposes a conceptual approach to the making of souvenirs in the context of digital transformation of production, which, unlike the traditional approach, involves changing the sequence of the production stages (design-sales-manufacturing) with the first two stages implemented in a digital environment. The paper offers the concept of a custom-
ized approach to the production of a regional souvenir product using modern mobile devices; the approach gives consumers an opportunity to employ a virtual environment when exploring the Primorsky Krai and its atmosphere and enjoying its attractiveness and uniqueness. The paper describes the sequence and content of the stages of developing a mobile app constructor for making souvenirs unique to the Primorsky Krai starting with the development of an application prototype and the development of a souvenir product and ending with the implementation of the application. The results of the research can be applied to the design and manufacturing of locally-made souvenirs.
